I know it seems weird... usually, the older you get, the more that goes into your skincare routine. Botox, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion are only a few of the trending skincare services I read about on a regular basis. There are way too many anti-aging serums to count and I for one just got way too overwhelmed. I've tried SO SO many different combinations, but as I get older, the harder it is to manage my skin.
Living in the south has been very rough. The humidity wreaks havoc on my skin. Over the past few years, my face has become breakout central. So, after spending tons of money on products that just don't work, I decided to try simple.
About a year ago, my husband and I began introducing a more vegan diet into our lives. That's a story for another time, but it did get me thinking about other products in my life. I began paying more attention to what I was buying. I researched cruelty-free skincare and vegan beauty products to begin changing out my regular products for ones that met my new standards.
From a skincare perspective, I found Lush. I bought bath bombs, face scrubs, and lotions sporadically, but about two weeks ago, I decided to commit. 100% of Lush products are vegetarian and 95% are vegan. So, after a weird week of crazy breakouts and feeling as if my skin was snowballing out of control, I headed to Lush and chatted with one of their salespeople. I told her I wanted it all when it came to the facial line and here's what she recommended.
MOVIS - This 100 % vegan-friendly cleanser bar is what I use in the morning. It's supposed to help balance out my skin and add moisture back in.
ANGELS ON BARE SKIN - Goodbye dirt and makeup! I have been using this vegan skincare scrub at nighttime to wash the day away and help balance out the oil and dryness. I am loving that you need a very little bit to cleanse your whole face. I also love that the exfoliation is so gentle, but I do feel like it takes a couple of washes to get the makeup off.
COSMETIC WARRIOR - The last mask I used really stung my face. Once it was washed off, my poor face was bright red. I love that Cosmetic Warrior is extremely gentle. There is no tingling at all and the fact that it has to be stored in the fridge makes it nice and refreshing once it's on. I use this at night after I've scrubbed with the Angels on Bare Skin. This face mask is meant to smooth and tighten pores and is made for problem skin like mine. Cosmetic Warrior is vegetarian, not vegan because it does contain honey.
It's been one full week of using these products and I do see a slight reduction in redness. I'm still breaking out, but I am being patient. When you switch products on your skin, it takes a few weeks to see the results. At least that's what I've been told!
My goal is to remain consistent over the next few weeks to really see if I notice changes. I'm crossing my fingers and I'll keep you posted!!
