One of my super awesome Charlotte friends is getting married next month and to celebrate, she rented a beach house in Charleston for a girls weekend! I have always wanted to go and this seemed like the perfect excuse! There is so much to do and see that I don’t feel like a weekend was enough to do it justice, but I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments with you all in case anyone is thinking of heading that way this summer.
Our first stop on the trip was Folly Beach. The beach house was walking distance to the pier. On what pretty much was the perfect Saturday, we strolled into town and had breakfast at Black Magic Cafe. Even with a long line, we were lucky enough to get a seat out on their patio. I got the plate that they like to call “The Tree Hugger.” Yogurt, granola and fruit, a delightful choice and just filling enough for a day at the beach. Then it was time to catch a tan. My friend and I rented beach chairs for the day and relaxed. Our chairs were right in front of Blu Restaurant & Bar. It seemed like a fun place to be with music playing and an abundance of frozen drink options. For anyone looking for a day of lounging, but still close to a bit of excitement, I highly recommend the Folly Beach scene.
Next stop on the Bachelorette wagon was a boat ride from the Isle of Palms Marina to a island preserve just up the coastal waterway. What an amazing boat ride it was! We saw dolphins along the way and our tour guide gave us a little history about the area. When we got to the island, we explored and of course took time for photo ops, like the one of me to the right —>
Upon our return to the boat, our awesome tour guide had stirred up some lowcountry boil. Have you ever heard of that? I certainly have not, but I’m a southern belle now so I guess I need to learn this stuff. It was delicious. Shrimp, sausage, onions, corn and potatoes. For those of you who know me, I steered clear of the potatoes lol, but went back for seconds on everything else. And all of this wasn’t even the best part. We were able to watch the sunset and it was one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. My friend even caught this amazing picture. I”m pretty much obsessed with it.
A full day in the sun wore us all out, so unfortunately I can’t say we checked out the nightlife. That will have to be on trip number 2
Sunday was travel day. My friend and I packed up early morning and headed into Charleston to explore! We did some shopping at the city market, which had so many different vendors and things to offer. Then we walked to Waterfront Park. I might have been able to stay there all day. I took so many pictures, it was just gorgeous. I got to see the infamous Pineapple Fountain and tasted some pretty darn good Italian ice from a vendor cart along the water.
Overall I would say it was a pretty event filled trip, filled with lots of fun Bachelorette moments, girl time and memory making. If you’ve been to Charleston before, I’d love to hear of more places for me to visit! And feel free to share your pictures, you know I love them!
